Under-the-arches club in the thick of Vauxhall
Venue opened in 2012 in the back of popular club Fire, whose promoter Orange Nation stages some of its events here. Billed as "bespoke nightlife for the clubbing elite", Protocol promises a party world that's "upmarket yet inclusive, stylish yet unpretentious, sophisticated yet fun". Atypically for a space used by sweaty testosterone-boosted clubbers there are chandeliers and white furniture involved. The club is divided into three separate areas: The Temple (dance space with advanced lighting and sound); Protocol Lounge (versatile space that can be used as a second dance floor or seated area); and a quieter 'luxurious' zone that features four large booths and private washrooms. Specialist Hoist-exile clubs such as Boys & Sirs (Saturday 2pm–7pm) and Sports Bolt (Saturday 10pm–4am) are staged here by Jamie HP [see entry]. Located in a tunnel 30 seconds round the corner from the entrance to Vauxhall tube station.
