Men drink here
Nothing out of the ordinary to say about this perfectly fine Soho corner pub. At its most extreme it's borderline-leathery and casual-sordid. Can become buzzy and busy, with a crush of men often seen outside sipping pints as they clock and cruise the passers-by. Overlooks the stage door at the back of the Queen's Theatre. Somewhat complementing 'the Welly' in terms of clientele is the more frisky-sleazy but less happy-go-lucky Comptons [see entry], which can literally be crawled to in just under 30 seconds. Previously called the Rat and Parrot, the pub went gay on 11 September 2001.
