Ku Leicester Square/Klub *

Formerly: Ku Leicester Square/Ku Klub

Ku ku ka choo
A casual and attractive hot spot with an image-aware, youngish and camp-friendly clientele, located one minute south of Soho, a minute north of Leicester Sq, and on the edge of Chinatown. Opened 2007. Popular, clubby-style, DJ-driven basement bar Klub features a dance floor (with commerical pop) and opens from 10pm, with comedy nights fortnightly. Ku Klub got a serious upgrade in August 2016. Lesbian-dominant Tuesday nights (Ruby Tuesday, from 10pm in the basement) belong to the girls from She Soho (ex-Candy Bar). It's a 'three girl/one boy' minimum ratio, with males allowed in only if accompanied by the opposite sex. A sibling Ku branch with a more lounge sensibility, also called Ku Bar, opened in 2009 on 25 Frith St in Soho [see entry]. Pronounced 'kew', not 'koo'. Outdoor terrace (with table service) opened summer 2014. From late October until late December the ground and first floors remain open until 3am on Friday and Saturday, with the basement space expanding its Sunday hours until 3am. In the summer of 2016 the basement had an art-deco-like facelift.
