Major 'very now' contemporary gallery minutes from Soho
A Zürich-based art house with top-drawer rooms in London and New York. Artists include Louise Bourgeois, Mary Heilmann, Michael Raedecker, Berlinda De Bruyckere, Ellen Gallagher, Paul McCarthy, Pipilotti Rist and Subodh Gupta, with everything from digital and interactive to conceptual covered in six-week-or-so exhibitions installed in a quaint 1922 bank designed by Edwin Lutyens; the basement is especially atmospheric. There's a chance you won't like what's on offer, but not far off are White Cube gallery, Fortnum & Mason department store, the Royal Academy of Arts, the ridiculously entertaining Abercrombie & Fitch flagship store, Dover St. Market and perhaps a bite at the Wolseley [see entries]. In 2013 H&W closed its operation at 196 Piccadilly.
